To qualify for an MC licence, you must hold an HR or HC licence for at least one year. P2 HR licence time counts, but you must hold a full HR or HC licence before driving MC vehicles.
Assessment:
NSW RMS-approved training and assessment to meet competency standards. Upon successful completion, the RMS will issue your MC licence.

This NSW RMS-approved course includes training and assessments. Upon meeting required competencies, your HC licence will be issued.

Licence Requirements:
To qualify for the HR licence, you must have held a Class C, LR, or MR licence for at least two years.
Assessment:
NSW RMS-approved course with training and assessments by accredited assessors. Upon successful evaluation, the RMS will issue your HR licence.

To obtain a heavy vehicle licence, you must:
Pass the Heavy Vehicle Knowledge Test for the licence class you’re applying for.
Complete the Heavy Vehicle Competency-Based Assessment (HVCBA) with a Registered Training Organization (RTO).

There are five classes of heavy vehicle licences in NSW:
